The Never Ending Quest

I sat down about 2 hours ago to write a blog post and now here I am only starting to write but with a marginally improved iTunes library. Christ, it's like crack and crystal meth rolled in chocolate. I cannot get enough of my iTunes library, no matter how fucking infuriating it can be at times and no matter how back breaking it is being hunched over my laptop in a mission to find out EXACTLY when that song was released. You know what I mean. Don't you?

Just me?

Oh, ok then. I thought all you cool hipsters and computer geeks out there would also be on this quest but I guess maybe I'm a bit special.

I don't know what it is but every now and then I get seized by a compulsion to have THE PERFECT ITUNES LIBRARY.

Now, let's be clear here, I'm not talking musical perfection because that, my friends is a matter of taste. YOU may not like my kinda music but I'm telling you there will come a day when someone will say "God, I'd love to hear that song from when I was a young un. It was called Boom Boom Boom Boom by the Vengaboys."

Do you know what my reply will be?

It will be "Wish granted" and the fakey electronic tones of two gay lads and a couple of transsexuals will ring out from my laptop and that person will thank me from the bottom of their heart. That day will come people, oh yes, it will come.

As I was saying, I'm not talking perfection in terms of musicality or anything (although I would like to point out not only do I have a shitload of 90's pop in my library, I also have the obligatory classics; The Beatles, Leonard Cohen...I don't know who else but I'm telling you I have some classic choons on there), I'm talking in terms of information and pictures and stuff. Like making sure each song is in the right genre and has the right year of release etc, etc. I know it's a bit mad but if I want to listen to a few classics from 1991, I want to make sure I get all the right stuff and not some pretender from 1990 trying to squeeze itself in there. It's a quest that will probably never end since my iTunes library is expanding, much like the universe and as I become preoccupied with new stuff, old stuff  gets put aside. And then inevitably some technological issue will occur that will wipe out loads of my music. There's always something, isn't there? Damn technology and it's glitches.

Unfortunately Apple also clearly doesn't like my plans as it has wiped photos and swapped names on several occasion causing me to have a mini nervous breakdown when I discover these things. Usually on the bus. Damn you Apple. Now I have to start ALL OVER AGAIN, Are you happy, Apple? Is it not enough that you have consumed endless hours of my life and sucked money from me like some sort of money vampire as I browse through the iTunes store?!You like to see me cry, don't you Apple? Don't you?!

Yeah, I need a job.

While I'm on the topic of jobs and Apple, I would like to say RIP Steve Jobs because it's 2am and I just saw on Twitter that he passed away.  As much as iTunes frustrates me, I love it dearly and I love my iPhone and I covet all other things Apple. Without Steve maybe the world wouldn't have such cool accessories. And an app that makes your voice go all squeeky.

Anyway, one day my iTunes library will be perfect, or at least as perfect as it'll ever be since it'll never be full because it can never know all the music that is yet to come. Oooh, I like that. You can quote me on that when I'm famous. Man, I am gooooood.
